4 Miles 4 a Great Cause!
Running my first race. Four miles for Autism Speaks! If you want to donate, I have the next 72-hours to meet my fund-raising goal of $300. Yay for late ideas! And ambitious plans!
Gifts can be made on this page: http://tiny.cc/4hugo. I can accept gifts through Sunday. The run is Sept. 6th, promise to post pics!

Last Weekend's Awesome Lego Party
Our friends J & G came up with a brilliant idea for their son's birthday party! Combine a room-long, ceiling-to-floor Hot Wheels race track and a box of brightly colored legos with wheels, mix in some industrious, imaginative, and excited boys and girls, and you have a party to remember! Hugo and Dash came right in, set to work, and were very fired up to race the cars they created along with the other party goers. Happy birthday to their son, J, and thanks for inviting us!

Staying Local - the "chilly" summer continues
Usually Me, Jen, and the boys don't part ways but we did this afternoon. Feeding Dash's love-affair with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jen and Dash went to the movies. Love this kung-fu shot! Although, he's looking more like he's posing like a bodybuilder.
I put Hugo on the back of a bike and pedaled to Astoria Pool. This season of outdoor fun has been somewhat tragic, mainly with swimming. The past few summers, when the middle of August rolled around, we were well into the dog days--ninety degree temps and high humidity. Today, it struggled to even get to eighty. Although we've had humidity, we've had barely five days over ninety. The Astoria Pool, below, is normally packed at this time of year but as you can see, a few hearty souls braving the chilly water and air (once you get out of the pool). Poor, stick-thin Hugo practically turns blue after 20 minutes in the pool.
That said, I am not going to complain that much, I am not a fan of sweating to death and the weather's been delightful. Just not for swimming adventures.

Cold August Day
What the heck! We spend our summers swimming and so far this season, it's been remarkably cold. We stuck it out anyway, up at Lake Welch, but Dash didn't have a problem...he was built for the beach regardless of temperature.

we went to the doctor this AM and were relieved to know that Dash didn't have chicken pox. He wasn't contagious...WooHoo!!...so we were off to meet Hugo at the Summer Carnival at his new school, PS255@151. Face painting and fun!
