Images from Mid-July
Yesterday, Jen and I had our first full family excursion. We went out to Long Island to pick up some now-needed items from Buy Buy Baby. Here's Hugo and Dash in the back, before we got there.
And here they both are, after. You may think Dash slept through the entire trip. Well, he kind of did. Also, note the costume change and protective beach towel on the seat, we had a major diaper fail for Hugo. So exhausted.
Below, is one of our now-needed item at work. We have the boys under surveillance during the nights now. We had no idea that Hugo's wind-down rituals were so entertaining; better than TV.
Here's the new-baby-bee! On a wonderful quilt made by our friend Kim. Love it.

Dashiel One Week Old
Best Friends Birthing Best Friends
It is not often 2 longtime friends get pregnant at the same time. My friendship with Samirah goes back to junior high school. We've remained close and I remember telling her I was pregnant and her thinking she may be pregnant too. Samirah and Carmen welcomed Carmen Basel Grande into the world July 9th, two days after Dashiel's birth. Baby Carmen like Dash came out of the womb ready to suck all night and sleep all day. I kid. But it is great to share the joy and pain of these early days with my best friend.
Apparently this is Baby Carmen's poo face.
As his father says TCB, "Taking Care of Business."

Dash Photos
Ball Bin
I was thinking as I brought my camera that there weren't that many more interesting pictures to take of Hugo while at MyGym, until....he found the ball bin. And yes, we are working on more pictures of Dash.

Some Pictures at the Hospital
So yah! Natural child birth certainly gets you out the hospital door sooner. Or so it seems. After admitting last night at 10pm and delivering at 11:40 pm, Mommy and Dash arrived home today around 3:30pm. Hugo only seemed mildly curious, as there are blocks to be stacked and toys to be played with. Anyway, I wanted to post some pictures of not-even-a-day-old Dashiel from today. Of course, there's more to follow. A HUGE thanks to to our good friends for their well wishes and their help over the past twenty-four hours--we are more than blessed.
Welcome Dashiel Quincy Brown: 7/7/10

No Boy #2 YET. . .
Yes it is my due date and it is HOTTER than a lonely hot dog rotating at 2am at a Kwik Trip Gas Station. Today the doctor did "her best" to get things going (stare at ceiling and think of how good men have it). I'm going to let her do whatever it takes as she now thinks the baby is 8 1/2 pounds. I did my fair share of walking and had Vietnamese food for lunch and walked some more. A lot of people ask if Hugo knows he has a baby brother coming. He has NO CLUE. He uses my belly like a spring board to grab my glasses or my hair. His latest efforts involve emptying the contents of whatever he can find. If it is a box loaded with books, by golly all 30 books will be in the middle of the room. He is napping now in a bedroom littered with flash cards, like the aftermath of a Chicago-style ticker tape parade. I for one did not sleep last night because my body was busy sweating. I swore I heard a mouse and if you remember last time, a mouse scratching in our walls is how Hugo's labor began. But honestly, I'm not sure the squeaking last night was from a varmint or Evan's nose.

A little shower and a lot of tummy!
Friends from fellowship group brought the food, drink and good time to our place to celebrate baby boy #2's soon arrival.
Some of you may be wondering how big mommy's belly is. These are photos from the last couple weeks. (Socks required at music class.)
We wait patiently for the next little man to arrive. Last week's sonogram reported he was 8 lbs already.

GOOD GRIEF!
More trampoline, of sorts...
More like Daddy becomes the trampoline. This from about a week ago. Excuse the plumber's butt--if it wasn't cute I wouldn't have posted it.
On the Trampoline..
@ MyGym: Hugo had a brief obsession with the trampoline today. However, as is his schtick with almost every playground we visit in Queens, he spent a good deal of "exploration" time trying to climb up the slides and stand on top of the high platforms so he could look down on everyone. Tantrums ensued when he was taken down by Daddy and placed on the floor for his own safety.
He also discovered tunnels today (no video of that). But for Hugo, going through them is passé. No, he preferred to crawl to the middle and stay there, and then have a small fit when he had to be extracted so other children might have a turn. Delightful lad. But mostly, a great deal of fun for a very ACTIVE child.
